The Florida State University Real Estate Foundation, Incorporated (FSU REF) proudly announces the creation of the “Building FSU’s Future” Fund at the Florida State University Foundation.
The fund will provide much needed support to allow the FSU Real Estate Foundation to pursue strategic initiatives and invest in real estate assets that benefit and create value for Florida State University.
The FSU REF is equally excited to announce the inaugural gift to the Building FSU’s Future fund–the gift of a commercial out parcel located in Chelsea, Alabama valued at more than $250,000. R.K.M. Development (www.rkmdev.com), with locations in St. Petersburg, Birmingham and Raleigh, donated the outparcel. It is adjacent to the Walgreens and Advance Auto Parts locations developed by R.K.M. in the Chesser Plantation part of Chelsea.
Steve Pattison, Chairman of the FSU Real Estate Foundation Board of Directors remarked “We are thrilled to have our “Building FSU’s Future” fund seeded by this gift from Bill Lloyd and R.K.M. Development. We have investment projects already undergoing evaluation and hope to see further excitement and participation from our alumni and corporate affiliations. As the home to the fifth-ranked real estate program in the US, we see this fund as an opportunity to create a new model of real estate entrepreneurship.”
Bill Lloyd is a FSU graduate and President of R.K.M. Development. He is active as a member of the FSU Real Estate Foundation Board of Directors and the FSU Real Estate Center Executive Board, as well as a member of the College of Business Board of Governors. He was instrumental in leading this donation.
“The “Building FSU’s Future” fund and the real estate gift by Bill and his partners at R.K.M. Development represent a new platform for creative, direct investment in FSU and the surrounding community. We thank our College of Business graduates for their innovative commitment to FSU”, noted Andy Jhanji, Interim Vice President for University Advancement and Executive VP for the FSU Foundation, Inc.
Kevin Graham, Executive Director of the FSU Real Estate Foundation added, “The commitment of Bill and R.K.M. Development to our University and their desire to be an integral part of “Building FSU’s Future” is a visionary example of leadership. The REF is grateful for support of our mission”.
The Florida State University Strategic Plan features a strong commitment to Entrepreneurship and Innovation (www.strategicplan.fsu.edu) and notes “being a ‘first mover’ in any endeavor starts with a dedication to discovery and transformation”. Thanks to the gift of real estate from R.K.M. Development and Bill Lloyd’s efforts, the FSU REF looks forward to building an innovative, collaborative real estate investment program with the focus on creating value for the university.
